The Body Guy

To his acquaintances, Los Angeles crime reporter Evan Miller has the emotional repertoire of a robot. His formal manner and emotional unavailability are part of the defensive wall he built as a child at the hands of an abusive father. He shuts down when feelings threaten to break through, which is hardly ever, since the closest he has to an intimate relationship is an occasional conversation with a source. Unfortunately, Evan is about to become a popular guy.

When he upsets a group of corrupt and powerful men in the Los Angeles Police Department, his childhood home of Settler's Ridge suddenly makes for the perfect hide-away.

Back in the Midwest, the reclusive Evan finds himself trapped with a talkative teenager in a neighborhood overrun with inquisitive AARP members. If offered a choice, he would prefer to have his fingernails torn out with pliers. But things are about to get worse.

Evan discovers the corpse of local bad boy Andrew Robinson floating in his pool. It is immediately apparent that the detective in charge has heard of Evan's troubles with the LAPD and would love to build a case against the man he feels betrayed his colleagues.

In order to find the killer, Evan's going to have to brush up on his people skills. With a long list of suspects to interview, a thug from Los Angeles on his trail, and a revolving door of curious neighbors, he'll have plenty of practice.
