On May 30th, authors Bruce Cook and Gayle Bartos-Pool joined me at the book table in a fundraiser in Saugus.
May 27th - To coincide with the release of the DVD "Sherlock Holmes", I've put together a panel of Holmes experts to discuss everything Sherlock from movies and books to Sherlock Holmes on the stage. The event takes place at the Burbank Central Library at 110 Glenoaks (cross street Olive) at 7 pm. Hope to see you there!
April 10th - Join me on Saturday from 2-4 PM at the Buena Vista branch of the Burbank Library (300 N. Buena Vista Street) for a panel of authors to discuss short stories. As part of the Sisters in Crime/LA Speaker’s Bureau, I'll be introducing the authors to an eager audience.
On March 4th - I went to an elementary school to give a presentation for Literacy Day. Using the basic elements of storytelling, the kids—a mixture of grades 3rd through 5th—acted out the parts in a story and then came up with their own group tale. Then, using hero, goal, and conflict, each child wrote his or her own brief summary of a story they could write. The results ranged from clever tales about Mr. Cake avoiding the sinister Mr. Knife to heartfelt stories about the rescue workers in Haiti. At the end of the evening, one child won a copy of my early middle—reader, "Logical Larry"!
